I love fusion food. In fact, blending two diverse cultures into one meal has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. The journey from plate to plate that allows two chefs to truly showcase their abilities and knack for culinary creations is one that can treat just about anyones taste buds.
Nick & Sams Grill in the Park Cities has begun a new tradition of hosting what they are calling “First Wednesday Suppers” each month beginning in August. The goal of these specialized dinners is to bring together two chef powerhouses under the same roof and have them serve up a family style meal. This month of August, Chef John teamed up with Chef Uno Immanivong of Chino Chinatown at Trinity Groves to dish out a meal that fused French and Asian cooking into a prix-fixe sensation. Here is the menu:
House Made Charcuterie Board
“Chinese” Mortadella Duck Liver Pate w/ mirin aspic Roasted Bone Marrow
5 Spice Duck Breast Pastrami Teriyaki Ginger Jerky Pickled Onion
Hot Chinese Mustard Toast Points Crackers
Poached Egg and Braised Crispy Pork Belly
Peking Duck (Scallion Crepes, plum sauce, spring onions and cucumber)
Braised Short Rib
Thai Basil Gnocchi
Chinese Broccoli Au Gratin
Coconut Sticky Rice Creme Brûlée
Served With Mango
The dishes were simply to die for and I encourage you all to try and make one of these spectacular “First Wednesday” meals to see for yourself what the power of two chefs can produce!
