When a restaurant rolls out a “proper brunch”, my ears immediately perk up.
Next Door, a bar and restaurant located in the heart of Uptown Dallas has done just that. They pride themselves in making guests feel at home or rather “Next Door”, by providing great service and taking care of them. So, my most favorite meal, brunch is an occasion here. Lets go over some of the delicious items we tried during our visit.
One of my favorite things about brunch at Next Door is you can choose to be sinful, sweet or savory. Notice there are really no light options? This is brunch after all!
Starting with a wonderful brunch tradition, we tried the ‘Summer Beer’ with Deep Eddy Lemon, Revolver Blood & Honey Beer. This is definitely a sipper and that’s just fine seeing as I had a classic bloody mary to enjoy between sips. Another wonderful way to kick of the meal, a house made biscuit with their own wonderful maple bacon butter. You heard me, the good stuff. Wish I could bathe in it!
Soon came the savory options. A tender filet of beef below sunny sided up eggs, hash browns and redwine-roasted garlic sauce is the house speciality take on “steak and eggs”. The juicy pieces of steak were just perfect up against runny egg and crispy hash browns. Craving a sandwich? Next Door piles up large pieces of luscious salmon with herb aioli, cucumber, red onion, bacon and a sunny side up egg for the perfect hangover cure. Take that lox and bagel, theres a new carb filled brunch sheriff in town! I may need to retract my statement from earlier. There is one ‘skinny’ option on the menu and it fits the bill. An omelette stuffed with asparagus, goat cheese, tomato, red peppers and topped with pesto is a light bite to break up a hearty menu assortment.
My sweet tooth wasn’t quite satisfied with the maple bacon butter, so I put it to the true test. Next Door has created a behemoth brunch option that will quell the hunger of just about anyone. I give you, the “best f**kin stuffed french toast. Chef Paul takes cinnamon raisin thick toast, stuffs it with cream cheese, rolls it in pancake batter, deep fries it and tops with berries, maple syrup and whipped cream. If you don’t feel full after that beast, well, order another!
Highly recommend the visit to Next Door and can’t thank them enough for having me in to get my brunch fix!
