Oh how quickly the Holiday season approaches. Sudden dips in weather, window shopping changeovers with red & green galore and a sense of urgency about. Although hard to believe, we are just a little over a week from our first Holiday get together of the year. Thanksgiving is upon us and soon after things will move into hyper gear as we progress into December.
With all that said, one priority stands in front of me this week. Prepping for Holiday events can be a dread when you haven’t even considered how fast they have snuck up on us! Whether it’s an office party, friendsgiving, Holiday dinner parties or photo sessions, outfits can be hard to choose. My goal is to prove to you that it isn’t as stressful as it seems. I’ve teamed up with the folks at Rye 51 in Dallas’ West Village shopping district to give you an idea of how to go about looking your best for this seasons gatherings.
My first tip is to not overdo it. You’ll end up far to formal and suddenly feel the need to remove articles of clothing to bring it back down to normal. Layering is certainly acceptable as cooler weather calls for it this time of year, but it’s how you layer than matters. Start with a great button down, preferably one with a bit of design to it and a print can’t hurt either. The season doesn’t have to be all dark colors and dreary, brighten things up with your first layer and then build upon that.
Second, score a technical sweater for warmth and variety. The one I am wearing above is made with fleeced cotton, and it’s thin enough to be worn as a layer above your button down for colder evenings. Lastly, embrace the denim. It isn’t always blue and when paired with the rest of this look will give you comfort and style throughout this busy season. A love a straight leg pant and this pair has a silky soft cotton blend with a hint of stretch. A polished and comfortable everyday pant.
Don’t stress the Holiday season and all of it’s exciting happenings, embrace the spirit and enjoy a few when you can!
