Travel Style on the Magnificent Mile

You know I’m no stranger to the friendly skies. Picking up and going where the wind takes me has always been an exhilarating part of life for me, especially when it’s to one of my favorite cities.

There is simply something special about Chicago. From the amazing hotels (my favorite being the Thompson Chicago) to the fantastic food (don’t miss Bavette’s or Eataly), heck even the people are awesome. Something that folks may not know about the Windy City, however, is how fabulous the fashion is. Getting a bad rap for the constant threat of cold weather or freak wind storms, the city is constantly fighting for it’s place on the map of great places to shop. Who couldn’t love an entire boulevard dedicated to the art of shopping though? The Magnificent Mile holds it own.

For this particular trip, I wanted to ensure I had layers as it was forecasted for snow during my stay. My first day I decided to venture out in an outfit that allowed me to hop off the plane and head straight into the city for a little exploring. I love a comfy knit that acts as a protective layer against the elements as well. This sweater from Theory is the perfect piece to carry you through a chilly stroll and get you from shop to shop. With a gorgeous waffle-knit stitch and a slimmer fit design, the only weight you’ll feel is the happy tug of your new purchases.

Pair your knit with some slim-fit chinos that capture the eye with a modern look perfect for spring getaways. The Neoteric stretch fabric provides enough room to get you going and keeps you moving with a breathable nylon/spandex material that goes with you as you hit the big city streets. Lastly, you’ll need a shoe that is sturdy enough to stand up to planes, trains and cars but still allows you to express your own style on-the-go. I am obsessing over this Sport Suede Slip-On Sneaker from Vince. You can breeze through security and make heads turn.

So get out there and try and travel style that spring brings and don’t forget to shop a little bit on your adventure!
