I love building outfits around a certain piece. One garment can inspire other items to jump in line and before you know it, your vision is complete.
One such clothing item that I’ve been taken by recently is this deep blue-indigo jacket from J. Crew. It’s a bomber jacket that reflects the style that probably comes to mind when you think of vintage World War II jackets. This is a take on what is now the timeless staple of cool guys everywhere. I love it for the lightweight nylon-cotton (rather than the traditional leather) that makes for a more casual look that also happens to be a more versatile layer. Springtime storms beware, you come bearing protection.
When matching up with statement pieces, don’t shy away from equally as standout options. Rather, blend fun neutrals and basics to enrich the overall look. For instance, a light and striped button down that lies beneath your main focal piece adds texture with flair. Go for a pop of color in the bottom half of your outfit, why should the top half get to have all the fun? These lightweight cotton pants are made from one of my favorite fabrics for warmer weather. A deliciously green saturated color gives just the right amount of finish to this get up.
