With all the shopping going on this past week, I sure worked up an appetite. Hopping from store to store, sale to sale can really make a guy hungry. Deciding on how to satisfy the craving, I went through my list of favorite places in Dallas to lunch and landed on a winner.
Sissy’s Southern Kitchen has earned it’s way into my top 10 list of places to recommend to Dallas residents and visitors alike. With Lisa Garza at the helm, the restaurant has become an establishment of Southern comfort food and this boy loves his comfort food. A little known fact about Sissy’s, they also serve lunch! That’s right, while you’re hopping about finishing your shopping or needing to catch up with a friend, do it over lunch and don’t miss the Belvedere Tea Bar with signature tea-infused punches.
When I stopped in for a Southern luncheon this week, I was hungry but not starving. Luckily for me, the lunch menu includes starters, soups and salads that will do the trick without tipping the scales or breaking the bank. I highly recommend starting with the two jumbo lump crab cakes w/ fine herbs, mixed greens & caper tartar. Super moist and packed with fresh crab, it’s just delicious! Of course lunch wouldn’t be complete without the famous squash puppies topped with whipped Texas honey guild butter & jalapeño jelly. Crispy goodness washed down with a tea sipper. If you’re needing more sustenance, wrap your fingers around the curry chicken salad sandwich loaded with Sissy’s brined chicken, red curry, dried cherries, pecans, ginger chutney, lettuce, tomato. Just like mom used to make! Got an indulgent side? The bread crumb topped mac & cheese is heaven sent! Don’t step out without a cup of low country gumbo with crab finger, shrimp & andouille sausage either!
Southern lunches cure the shopping blues and fill your soul with delicious fixings!
