Cajun Cravings

No more need to book travel to Louisiana when you get the cajun cravings. Inspired by the charm and soul of New Orleans, NOLA Brasserie sets a friendly stage for a casual lunch, relaxed dinner, or welcoming happy hour. I was invited in to savor the inventive menu of American and Creole dishes—from spicy crawfish stew to blackened catfish and big juicy burgers. If the weather plays in your favor, you can even enjoy your meal outside on the large patio overlooking the gardens or settle inside at a table like we did. Dallas’ newest creole inspired restaurant sits below the Westin Dallas Downtown and attracts Downtown Dallas dwellers and travelers alike.

We began with cocktails of course. The “Mama’s Moonshine” takes fresh mint muddled with strawberry moonshine and shakes it up with delicious house-made lemonade. Dangerously refreshing! We also sampled the cucumber lemonade which made for a sweet sip for happy hour! Grab a light bite in the form of their famous crawfish fritters. The lightly fried balls are chock full of Lousiana crawfish, corn and veggies and served atop a house-made Crystal aioli.

This is creole comfort at its best so of course we moved on to the big plates. A house favorite Redfish Acadian was spicy and served perfectly with a creamy sauce and delicious mashed potatoes. The real winner of the table was the “Mr. Fancy” burger. It’s a 10oz house-ground patty on ciabatta smeared with white truffle garlic aioli and we added a fried egg. Truly decadent and wonderful!

If your looking for some creole creature comforts, head to NOLA Brasserie!
