Now this may sound weird to some, but it’s always been my belief that in order to get and feel active you need to look the part. That’s right. When deciding to get out and get going in a healthy way, one must first go over the proper apparel to do so. Are you going for a walk, hike, bike ride or jog? It all takes a bit of thought and the right kind of style to match.
One of my favorite trends of late is athleisure wear. Some define it as “a trend in fashion in which clothing designed for workouts and other athletic activities is worn in other settings, such as during work, casual or social occasions.” For all intents and purposes, the “trend” has become an excuse for some. Wearing athleisure to the grocery store, movie theatre or mall should rarely to never be allowed. The blurred lines of workout and lazy wear are far too often apparent in those we see out and about.
For me, rocking athleisure is all about blending active outings with fashionable outfit pairings. The outfit above, for instance, was perfect for a day of visiting nearby parks for strolls and fresh air. Perry Ellis has designed their 360 Performance Collection with guys like me in mind. The entire assortment is made up of shirts with wicking properties that will draw away sweat while you work out, and jackets designed with breathability in mind that keep you dry and warm without the threat of overheating. My outfit blends neutral gray active shorts with light blues in the water resistant bomber jacket and darker colors in a sweat wicking polo to finish the look. Staying fit has never looked better.
