New Year, New Juice

The first time I heard about juicing was about four years ago. I had read about this age-old diet approach in several health books, and it sounded almost too good to be true. Drinking freshly squeezed fruit and veggie juices will detoxify your body, give your skin a glow and boost your immune system? “No way,” I thought to myself. But when I started hearing about juice bars popping up all over Dallas, I was tempted by the accessibility and popularity of this rumored miracle cleanse.

The decision to do a three-day juice cleanse can’t really be chalked up to any one thing. I’m not trying to drop weight, exactly, though I’ve been feeling a little sluggish after this holiday season spent mostly eating and drinking. As someone who’s a little too quick to pull the mac and cheese down from the cupboard shelf when there’s “nothing else” to eat, I also wondered if I have the willpower to commit to clean eating…even for just a few days.

So I am taking the “challenge”, and I say that lightly, to embark on Local Press + Brew 3 Day Cleanse. Local Press + Brew is the first juice + coffee parlor in Dallas, TX devoted to quality and local support. They source and support local vendors while creating farm to bottle cold-pressed, organic juices served in glass bottles. The cleanse provides 6 juices per day at $60. Most other local juice bars are double or triple that price so I find that amount to be just right for a newbie like me.

What do I hope to achieve over these next three days? A healthful start to the new year and a resolve to make better eating choices as we move further into 2017. So follow along on social media and see just how I do! Thanks to Local Press + Brew.
