South of the border goodness has come to Uptown Dallas. Nazca Kitchen, a full-service restaurant rooted in South American influenced comfort food recently opened its second Dallas location in West Village. I was invited in to sample some of their favorite dishes and I can honestly say that everything was super fresh and creative.
Owner Craig Collins brings a fun spirit to his restaurant. Collins explains, “In South America, food is the common thread in a cultural landscape woven for thousands of years by African, Asian, Indian and European influences. Our menu is a diverse selection of our take on these dishes. We are taking classic dishes and putting our spin on them.” Collins likes to say Nazca is his take on the traditional cuisine that has defined South America’s history.
The ceviche with an aji-lime dressing was wonderful when paired with fresh sweet potato. Don’t skip the house-baked flaky empanadas filled with chicken or picadillo beef. We loved the Nazca take on grilled salmon with sweet corn and veggies. Another amazing option for dinner are the shrimp tacos served over red cabbage and drizzled with a tomato based shrimp sauce on fresh flour tortillas. All of the wonderful flavors of South America without having to book the travel!
Craving dessert? Order the carrot cake with goat cheese mousse for a salty and sweet decadent ending.
