Go, fight, win! It’s officially fall you guys. Which means a couple of things depending on how you celebrate the season. Is it a mythical pumpkin spice latte? Car seat warmers? Oh, I know, FOOTBALL. What better way to celebrate the start of football season than with a tailgate friendly recipe that will have all teams scoring tasty touchdowns.
King’s Hawaiian products have been a staple in my house for as long as I can remember. Buttered and baked for the holidays, served as a BBQ side. Now that I have grown a little older, the way that I incorporate their amazing line up of products has changed a little. Specifically during tailgate season.
I hope you all enjoy these delicious Italian sliders! They are the perfect way to incorporate the meatball flavors into a delicious slider that is sandwiched between fluffy KING’S HAWAIIAN Dinner Rolls. Happy Tailgating!
“Molto Delizioso!” Meatball Sliders
Ingredients:
1 1/2 Pounds Ground Beef (I prefer leaner but use your discretion)
1 Package KING’S HAWAIIAN Dinner Rolls
12 Slices Smoked Mozzarella
1 18 oz. Jar Marinara Sauce
1 Handful Basil Leave
Italian Seasoning (Salt, Pepper, Thyme, Oregano, Basil, Rosemary, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, Red Pepper)
2 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 Egg
1/4 Cup Bread Crumbs
1/4 Cup Grated Pecorino Romano
Instructions:
- Heat your grill (or indoor grill pan) over high heat and brush with olive oil to keep sliders from sticking.
- Mix Italian Seasoning, Breadcrumbs, egg, and ground meat in bowl until combined. Be sure not to over mix!
- Place meat mixture on a flat cutting board or counter lined with plastic wrap and press into an even layer.
- With a small juice glass, cut sliders into even circles and place cut pieces onto a separate plate. Repeat until all meat has been used.
- Transfer cut sliders onto grill pan flipping once during cooking process. Sliders should cook all the way through but because they are a bit smaller than normal burgers, allow 6-8 minutes per side to ensure fully cooked.
- While sliders cook, slice KING’S HAWAIIAN Dinner Rolls into halves (toast the rolls if you’d like)
- Transfer cooked sliders to rolls, top with mozzarella and spoon a dollop of marinara onto top of roll.
- Place a single basil leaf onto cheese topped slider and allow the cheese to melt.
- Top the sliders with top bun, pressing down slightly to combine
- Serve sliders on their own or with Italian seasoned steak cut fries for a full meal!
