As the first breezes of fall swept through my native Dallas this weekend, I couldn’t help but think ahead to the weeks ahead. Yes, they will be filled with cozy sweaters, mustard and burgundy toned outfits and of course a sick pair of boots to cap it all. In honor of the cooler days ahead, I gave myself permission to preview a few fall classics that are highly necessary.
To kick off fall, I’ve partnered with my friends at J. Crew to curate my top must-haves from their new collection released just recently. As they roll out a whole new assortment for the month of October, fall trends become a heavier spotlight. Think slightly heavier and more seasonal fabrications with deeper colors, and incredible textures. All of those things say fall to me and I love it. The marled lambswool sweater above screams sweater weather to me. You pretty much can’t go wrong with one made from lambswool—it’s soft, warm and always a good decision when the temperature starts to drop. Chambray can stay as well. This lighter denim shirt from Japan pairs well with fall weather, a warming cocktail and fireside chats with friends.
So whats trending on my list for the bottom half of your get-up? Garment dyed denim for starters. J. Crew won me over with these amazing premium denim from North Carolina’s famed Cone Denim mill (one of the oldest denim mills in the world). Made in the USA means amazing quaulity and craftsmanship and the not-to-slim slim cut of these pants lets you show off a little. Socks are huge to me, I love a pair that shows personality. Hailing from their accessories section, the Tokyo-based Chup socks are limited edition with intricate patterns inspired by folk art and the spirit world. Me likey. Last but not least, my favorite pair of shoes for fall trekking, the MacAlister boots. Made from the finest Italian suede, these bad boys only get better with age. There you have it, my fall picks.
