Health in Bloom

The struggle is constantly real for me to find healthy food that also tastes great. It seems like too often we find ourselves eating mindfully but without the flavor. Theres a new kid in town showing that incredible ingredients and smart eating create pure magic. In the garden of good eating, Flower Child is ushering in a new harvest.

From Fox Restaurant Concepts that brought us True Food Kitchen comes a new sibling that bring fresh to fast casual. Flower Child’s fundamental promise is to serve healthy food for a happy world. It means they work with ranchers who respect, protect and love their animals – and the food supply. All of their proteins are all raised naturally, without additives. Their organic produce is guided by the wisdom of the Environmental Working Group. Local sourcing is a priority for Flower Child. At each location, they know the farmers and their families. Most importantly, the food is always cooked fresh.

This week, Flower Child invited me in for my birthday lunch as it’s quickly become my go-to favorite for a midday meal that won’t weigh me down later. Some of my favorite items on the menu come from an assortment of areas. The “Vegan Ingredient” salad is full of romaine, cauliflower, avocado, roasted corn, baby tomato, sun-dried olives and sunflower seed then tossed in lemon tahini vinaigrette. It’s absolutely delicious, don’t let the “vegan” part scare you off. Another wonderful salad is the “Skinny Cobb” which takes a bed of romaine and red cabbage then tops it with avocado, tomato, cucumber, crunchy corn, pickled onion and smoked almonds tossed in gorgonzola vinaigrette. You know the famous cobb is full of calories but this one is much better for you!

Craving something with more punch? Go for the “Mother Earth” bowl with ancient grains, sweet potato, portobello mushroom, avocado, cucumber, broccoli pesto, leafy greens, red pepper miso vinaigrette and hemp seed. I top mine with chicken and I am all set! Don’t miss their wraps like the “Bird is the word” which combines grilled chicken, broccoli, charred onion & pepper, melted pepper jack cheese in a delicious house-made whole wheat, flax & chia seed wrap. Delicious! You really can’t go wrong at Flower Child and the line out the door proves it.

Find their Dallas location at Inwood Village next to the Inwood Theater.
